What stone protection film is
Stone protection film is a clear, flexible sheet of aliphatic polyurethane with a pressure-sensitive adhesive on the back and a self-healing top layer. Aliphatic polyurethane is chosen because it is UV stable and does not yellow, which matters on white marble and in sunny Sydney kitchens. The top layer lets fine everyday marks fade with warmth, so the surface keeps looking new.
You may also see it called stone film, marble protection film, anti-etch film, benchtop protection film or surface protection film. They all describe the same idea: a clear protective layer that sits on top of the stone rather than soaking into it.

How it is installed
Installation is precise, hand-finished work. The stone is deep-cleaned so nothing is trapped underneath, then the film is cut to each surface, around sinks, cooktops and edges, and laid with a wet-mount method so it can be positioned perfectly before it bonds. Gloss or Matte / Satin
Both finishes give identical protection; the only difference is the look. Gloss is mirror-clear and deepens colour and veining on polished stone. Matte / Satin is soft and low-sheen, suiting honed, leathered and brushed stone. Most people match the finish they already have; some use the film to change it.
